1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish a framework for implementing and maintaining the Data Privacy within the Power Utility. It covers the collection, storage, use, disclosure, and disposal of personal information when using the website and application for availing services offered by JPDCL to users .

The privacy policy applies to the use of JPDCL mobile applications and the services offered through JPDCL website and applications. By sharing the personal information via various JPDCL platforms or email, the users or individuals have given agreed to this policy.

  To avail online services provided by JPDCL like bill payment, Load extension, new connection etc. through website or mobile application or while communicating via email, the user’s personal information may be collected. It includes the following:

  • Date of Birth
  • Father’s/Guardian’s Name
  • Identity proof

• Data Collection Methods:

  The user information may be collected in following ways:

  • Self-registration by users on various JPDCL platforms (mobile apps/website).
  • User registration by PSPCL employees on Customer Relationship Management portal
  • Online Bill payments and availing other JPDCL services by users
  • Queries/complaints by users on various platforms

• Data Use:

  The information provided by customer, including Personal Information is on a voluntary basis. While providing information, it is implied that user has given consent to the collection of information and its use for the purposes mentioned below:

  • To provide PSPCL services to users.
  • Registration for the purpose of creating an account to receive JPDCL services .
  • To provide services under various Government schemes
  • To reply to user’s queries and complaints.
  • To send notifications, bills, receipts to users.

• Data Sharing:

  • JPDCL shares personal information of users with third party like payment gateways etc. in a way that does not personally identifies the user.
  • Only the information that is necessary to provide services or resolve user’s complaints/queries is shared with third party service providers.
  • JPDCL may share information to any governmental or regulatory authority as required under any law applicable.

  • The industry-standard security practices are followed in JPDCL to safeguard the user data.
  • Adequate steps like encryption, IP whitelisting, etc. are taken to safeguard information sharing with third parties.
  • Users are responsible to prevent unauthorized access to their password or devices.
  • JPDCL is no responsible for any hardware/software problems or security breaches beyond its control, in particular, for any third party/user action leading to security breach.

  Users have right to access their personal information and may request modification or deletion of information.
